Not satisfied with a daysailer we developed Jenny into a viable coastal cruising boat. By erecting nylon tents supported with bent fiberglass poles, a weatherproof shelter is created, capable of withstanding torrential rains and fierce blows. Incorporating a built-in double berth with integral storage to maximize space and developing systems and strategies all made living aboard a small 18’ boat possible. JENNY is a wonderful boat for two. Her shoal draft of about 8” when loaded will transport her captain and crew into the shallowest of waters, while her seaworthy design will give one the confidence to transit more open passages. Row the boat single or double banked or raise the main and mizzen lug sails – set the jib, and off you go on an adventure that can only be realized in a Big Jenny Expedition Boat. Big Jenny Expedition Boats are seaworthy due to the reserve buoyancy inherent in the design. The fact that she has no cabin works to her advantage by keeping a low center of gravity. We feel cabins in small boats are uncomfortable in the best of conditions and with today’s superior foul weather gear, being out in the elements is not a concern. The openness of these boats gives greater flexibility and overall comfort compared to other boats of her size.
