We encourage people to build their own boats. There are few things in life as satisfying as sailing a boat that you have built. We recommend and build Big Jenny Expedition Boats using Plywood Lapstrake Construction.  PLC is an excellent, enduring, and practical method to build a boat. These boats have an excellent weight/strength ratio and are dimensionally stable, which greatly reduces maintenance. Tool requirements are relatively few and the forgiving nature of this construction makes it a good choice for the amateur.  There is a wealth of information regarding building in PLC and over the next year we plan to produce a video on building these boats.

We currently build Big Jenny Expedition boats one at a time in our small shop. We offer the 18’ Jenny and the 24’ Big Jenny.
