BIG JENNY BIG JENNY is a 24’ open boat based on the L. Frances Hereshoff design, Carpenter. We built this boat using non- traditional materials; plywood, epoxy, and fiberglass to produce a boat that has the feel and character of a classic. With the use of modern materials we achieve a boat that is dimensionally stable, strong for its weight and easily maintained. All valuable attributes for a trailerable boat. |

Building on technologies and methods incorporated on JENNY, we developed BIG JENNY for a bigger crew and longer cruising range. We erect nylon tents, supported by fiberglass rods for shelter, and installed a 9.9 Honda outboard motor in a mid-ships well. The well is mechanically ventilated and is completely closed when underway which is a great for noise reduction. The motor is equipped with a 12 amp alternator to power accessories such as lights, bilge pump, and fresh water pump. BIG JENNY has running water. BIG JENNY is a wonderful boat for up to four people. She sleeps two in the forward cockpit and two aft. Her shoal draft of about 12” when loaded can take her almost anywhere and her flat bottom makes her beachable. Her seaworthy design is well proven and can be quite cozy when those aboard are snuggled around her removable table. She has powerful standing lug sails in a yawl rig that can be easily rigged in minutes. |
